My Profile

I’m definitely not typical. I am part Arab, part American and have lived my whole life in Saudi Arabia where I have experienced what not every American gets to. I am grateful for my opportunities, for the amazing close friends I’ve made, and the things I’ve discovered about myself and life as a result of living in an extremely cultural, traditional, and diverse country. I look up to those who are always by my side and who work to make a positive impact in the world. Art, politics, and animals are a few of my influences in life. I find happiness in achieving and creating.  Money and materialistic things aren’t everything. I love to travel, debate issues, read anything I can get my hands on, and do spontaneous things.

I stumbled across your blog and enjoying the read so far :) You’re quite articulate with a good head on your shoulders, it seems. Keep it up!

Hey there =) so first i should just tell you im also arab american but i have grown up in america my whole life.Im now 16 and this summer my parents are moving me to saudi. All my life my parents have”tried” to enforce me to wear the veil and practice islam but when your in an american society you just want to fit in with all your friends right?I have read all of you blogs and its helped me to understand what the heck my parents have been trying to shove down my throat with all the customs and boys, hangin with friends and all that stuff It has made my life so stressful and even though i live here ive had to follow the same rules but never understood them because there so diffrent from america and the discipline with the belt and shoe my parents use that still but here its considered child abuse.I really dont want to move there but i have no choice, do u hvae nay advicee for me?

Hi Sarah, I’m happy that you’ve found my blog helpful! First off, life in Saudi is in no way easy, and I think it’s even harder for people who have lived abroad for so long and then move here. Although I have grown up here and come to face with the challenges of living here, I have been blessed with having an understanding family that supports me. As you know, the family controls one’s lifestyle wherever one lives, and usually the parents do try to instill in their kids some of their native culture. I can imagine how you must be feeling about being forced to move here, but the important thing is to look at it as a change from the usual and a learning experience. If you have any questions, you’re more than welcome to e-mail me at echodepiction@hotmail.com

Hey,I stumbled on your amazing website =D I’m really amazed by your posts especially that you are 17 years old.I know how life can be hard in here especially for girls but keep up the great work that you’re doing.I’ll be following your blog and I really like you to know that there are some amazing Saudi people who don’t fit the typical scenario although they are few but they do exist
P.S I loved you blog ” Grey’s Anatomy Fantasy” most of my friends went to med just because of that silly show with no true interest in medicine
